According to V.Ageev, he has nothing against a cathedral mosque in Simferopol, however its building in the Yaltinskaya Street as the Crimean Tatars want is impossible.
As the mayor hasn’ted, about it there was a speech and during his meeting with the first deputy of chairman of Medzhlisa Refat Chubarov.
«My position, it is necessary to build both mosques, and churches, and chapels, it is unequivocal, but it is necessary to be defined with sites, — the mayor has judged. — one of these days I met with mister Chubarov who asked this question. I told that I do not object to mosque building, but in that place where they want, it is impossible. About what we haven’t agreed, but I think that we will continue to carry on negotiations to be defined with a place».
As it was informed, in January, 2008 the Simferopol City Council has made the decision on allocation to a Muslim community of Crimea of the ground area the area of 2,7 hectares for building of a cathedral mosque, however, not along the 22 Yaltinskaya Street, as it was supposed earlier, and along the 6 Lugovaya Street. In February Economic Court of АРК has obliged the Simferopol City Council in 10-day term to conclude with Spiritual steering of Moslems of Crimea the lease contract of the ground area for building of a cathedral mosque.
Later deputies of the City Council recognized the ground area in the Yaltinskaya Street with which earlier it was planned to allocate under mosque building, and territory adjoining to it with «the green space used for rest of inhabitants of Simferopol». Then the City Council has made the decision on the green space name on the 22 Yaltinskaya Street, forest park «Anniversary» — in honor of the city 225 anniversary.
