Has Firtash Decided To Destroy Karasubazar?

The presidium of the Supreme Rada of Crimea has become interested in legality of building of an open-cast mine on extraction of limestones on the North Baksansky deposit in settlement Aromatnoe Belogorsky area. Today the parliament management has given the corresponding commission to Office of Public Prosecutor of Crimea.

According to a member of Presidium, the chairman of constant commission SR ARC on agrarian questions, ecology and rational wildlife management Vladimir Klychnikov, contractors of building of an open-cast mine have begun works without reception of mountain tap of a site and the state ecological examination.

«Have not up to the end legalised papers, but have already started actions on which have no right — have cut down wood, an order of 10 hectares, and, these are adult oaks», — Klychnikov has declared.

It has reminded that open-cast mine occurrence in Aromatnoe has not been co-ordinated with local residents who act categorically against this building.

At the initiative of Klychnikov the legal commission of Presidium has been given to understand legality of building of an open-cast mine in Belogorsky area.

In particular. It is entrusted to republican committee on a wood and hunting economy to give the information on the one who and on what basis has given out cards on deforestation, on preservation of the environment — to inform on the sanctions accepted by them to wood committee and Open Society «Belogorsky limestones» which conducts open-cast mine working out.

Also the presidium has addressed to the public prosecutor of Crimea Stepan Molitsky with the request to give the commission to check up to nature protection Office of Public Prosecutor current legislation observance by all who is somehow involved in open-cast mine building.

Let’s remind that members of initiative group of inhabitants of the Belogorsky area opposing buildings by the Crimean soda factory career on extraction of limestones on the North Baksansky deposit, have addressed to president Victor Yanukovych, prime minister Nikolay Azarov and the first persons of Crimea, with the request to counteract open-cast mine placing in Aromatnoe. Officials asked to initiate investigation and to cancel the decision of the Supreme Rada of Crimea from October, 21st, 2009 which co-ordinates sale through auction of special permissions to using bowels for extraction of limestones on the North Baksansky deposit.

On March, 5th more than 100 inhabitants of Belogorsky area have opposed buildings by the Crimean soda factory of an open-cast mine on extraction of limestones on the North Baksansky deposit and have in protest blocked a line Simferopol-Feodosiya-Kerch. To pass to resolute protest actions of citizens mass cutting down of 10 hectares of wood on a grief which «chemists» intend to transform into raw materials has forced. It is planned that annual extraction of limestone will make about 1 million tons.

According to ecologists, open-cast mine building on the North Baksansky deposit in village Aromatnoe threatens to leave without water of 22 thousand inhabitants of Belogorsky area and to destroy development of green tourism in an existing recreational zone.

«The Crimean soda factory» and one more large Crimean chemical enterprise of Joint-Stock Company «Crimean titan» belong to oligarch Dmitry Firtash.
