Moslems of Crimea will celebrate Uraza-bajram

The First day of a Muslim holiday of Uraza-bajram — on September, 20th — is declared in Crimea by a day off. Because the first day of a holiday, on September, 20th, drops out on Sunday, Monday, will be on September, 21st a day off.

According to Ministerial council ARC press-service, the decision on an establishment of holidays for the inhabitants of Crimea who are practising Islam, was accepted by parliament of ARC on March, 26th, 1993.

As the chairman of Republican committee of information of ARC Shevket Memetov informes, there are about a half-million of Moslems in Crimea , among them ethnic Crimean Tatars, Azerbaijanians, Uzbeks, Tadjiks, Tatars of the Volga region, Turks-meshetints.

Traditionally Uraza-bajram is celebrated in Islam for three days. It starts the next day after end of a Muslim fast, month of Ramadan.

A day before holiday according to canons of Islam, believers distribute poor with alms.

The holiday symbolises strength of mind of the person who refuses for the sake of Supreme meal, water and other blessings in the daytime.
