The head of the commission on Crimean Tatar question Gennady Janaev has died

In Moscow on 73rd year of life the head of the commission on Crimean Tatar problem Gennady Janaev has died.

Janaev long also had a serious illness. He has been hospitalized in one of capital hospitals. According to mass-media, Janaev felt badly on the night of Monday and has been hospitalized in a grave condition in the Central clinical hospital.

In the beginning of reorganization Janaev under Gorbachev’s personal commission has headed the commission on Crimean Tatar problem. As Janaev told, he disagreed for a long time. After the commission which was headed by Gromyko who has broken many fire wood, it was necessary to work hard to deny all lie and to convince the public that universal eviction of the people, is that other as political repression to a national sign. Gorbachev has personally handed over him a folder in which there was a paper blank leaf. «Here with this blank leaf also begin» — he has told.

Gennady Janaev, heading the commission, has shown high adherence to principles and firmness. He managed to break in consciousness of many heads of the state the settled stereotypes, to prove all falsity of the Soviet propagation concerning the Crimean Tatars and representatives of other people sent from Crimea.
