According to a mufti of Spiritual steering of Moslems of «Umma» Said Ismagilov, Moslems-sunnity in Kiev have no cathedral mosque. He has declared it at III scientific conference «Cultural-tsivilizatsionnyj dialogue and ways of harmonization of interethnic and interconfessional relations to Crimea».

He has noticed that the president of Syria Bashar Al Asada couldn’t bring point of visiting of a mosque in the cultural program of recent visit to Ukraine because of its absence. Thus there was an offer to visit a mosque in the Lukjanovskaya Street in Kiev «On what we answer: excuse, but it is a temple of another conession, habashit direction of Islam which exists only in two countries — Lebanon and Ukraine, nowhere more. In Ukraine they actively develop and had an opportunity to build a mosque. But it is other faith if we speak religious studies language, they are representatives of other faith for one simple reason, they don’t pray with other Moslems, considering that with them it is impossible to make a prayer, they don’t consider to their Moslems. And consequently to go to Moslems-sunnitam to that mosque which builds this neoreligious direction, it all the same that orthodox would go to a temple of witnesses of Jehovah. The president of Syria unequivocally would refuse to visit this mosque because in Syria it is a current it is forbidden as destructive, in Ukraine it isn’t that », — the imam has explained.

He also has noticed that before the authorities of capital of Ukraine the question of building of a cathedral mosque rose, «but every time procedure was tightened». «And such situation not only in Kiev, such situation in the majority of big cities of Ukraine. Undoubtedly, it is a problem. Basically the tendency says that in big cities the quantity of Moslems will increase and if we don’t want to face problems, we should solve it somehow: to give to Moslems according to the legislation possibility to build the cult constructions», — the imam has declared.
