Recently one of active workers of national movement, nowadays the head of Observant committee Milli Firka Sadyk Berberov has noted the fortieth anniversary of the homecoming. His life — an objective cut of a life of the generation which were born on foreign land, those who with milk of mother has absorbed unforgettable love to Crimea…
— Tell about yourself, where are you from, where were you born, how was your life?

— My parents — natives of village Korbekul (v. Izobilnoe) Alushta area, in 1944 they have shared a fate of all Crimean Tatar people, have been sent to Uzbekistan. I was born in 1953 in settlement Chigirin of the Tashkent area. Our family was big, seven children. Nine classes have ended in Uzbekistan. To Crimea have returned in 1969 when I was 16. And forty years has passed, as my family has returned home.

— What you have seen Crimea for the first time?

— When I went to Crimea, dreamt to see the sea, palm trees, cypresses… And has seen boundless fields and steppes of East Crimea… We have lodged in village Uvarovo of Lenin area. The village was very thrown, buses went once a week, there was no sidewalk, any slice of asphalt. There I have lived twenty seven years. After leaving school tried to enter agricultural institute, but, alas. Then it was very difficult to Crimean Tatars to fight the way to the top. Has handed over documents in agricultural technical school in v. Malenkoe. After the first course I was taken away in army. The technical school has finished, already when have served. Higher education have received at the Kherson agricultural institute. On a speciality I am an agriculturist.
— How you have come to national movement?

— I simply could not stand aside, because of a national identity many doors for the Crimean Tatars have been tightly closed. They opened only for those who was ready to recognise that the state which has deprived our people of the Native land, good, kind, tender. But I saw absolutely another, and did not wish to be reconciled with it…

In 1985 almost in all areas of Crimea initiative groups have been created, meetings were held. For the first time I participated in a meeting which passed in the old Crimean wood. In 1991 I was delegate Kurultaja, entered into a revision committee, but has soon left…

— Why have you left Milli Medzhlis?

— Soon after Kurultaja it became clear that selected structure of Medzhlis does not consult with the obligations, and does not justify expectations of the people. And then, in 1993, the Revision committee takes out a verdict that Milli Medzhlis does not carry out decisions of Kurultaja, does not work concerning the Declaration on the sovereignty, informs of the chairman of Medzhlis. In the answer, on regular session of Kurultaja without any explanations the Revision committee send in resignation. (Nijazi Selimov entered into a revision committee then, Eldar Shabanov, Enver Hajredinov, Enver Ametov, Remzi Ablaev, Ilver Ametov and I).

In 1996 me have selected in Milli Medzhlis. Almost at once it was found out that through «Imdat bank» goes unscrupulous larceny of the target money allocated for arrangement of the Crimean Tatars. In December, 1997 at extraordinary session of Kurultaja we were going to present to delegates of Kurultaja the documents exposing larceny of target money, but to us have not allowed to express. In protest sixteen members of Milli Medzhlis then have left, among them and I.
— How there was your political life after leaving of Medzhlis?

— Leaving Medzhlis at all did not mean that we have stopped struggle for the people rights, more likely, on the contrary. We have organised Coordination council of political forces. In 1998 has passed congress of Moslems of Ukraine, I participated in its creation and through any time have headed its regional branch in Crimea. We actively worked over ethnic questions and we continue to work today.

I read much and heard about legendary party Milli Firka, about a galaxy of remarkable revolutionaries-patriots, and have promised that if this party will revive — I will necessarily participate in it. To 2006 this process has gone, so I became a member of Milli Firka.

— Struggled for possibility to return on the historical native land to Crimea earlier, and for what you struggle now where conduct the people?

— I actively participated in the Moscow events of 1987, on Red Square held a meeting, then the whole year on our houses posters with the requirement hung — «to Restore Crimean АSSR» — in it we put statehood of the Crimean Tatars. And now we should struggle for restoring the state status. Many do not believe today that it is possible. But without restoration of statehood we, even living on the native earth, the people we will not save up.

— How you think, what can wake the people?

— Very often the people unite in the face of external and internal threats when there come any difficulties for their overcoming. Earlier the power did not hide the relation to the Crimean Tatars, us openly tried to humiliate, did not take for work, and it was an occasion to resistance from our party. But today the power has selected other way, she takes great pain to find from among the Crimean Tatars of loyal people, to present them with something, awards to give, medals. I wish to ask these order bearers, what they with these awards will do, when the people will not be? Power advances are directed on delaying time to a point when degradation process becomes irreversible.

But as though they did not try, in every possible way indulging and serving the present power, is assured, the people will rise. Work of many organisations, including Milli Firka, is directed on waking in consciousness of compatriots necessity to continue struggle for the birth rights. It is necessary to notice that dynamics in a positive side is already visible.
— Over what you work today, whether there are successes in struggle for justice restoration in Crimea?

— Works in this field — a plenty. To one of last achievements was that the Alushta city council has made the decision on arrangement of Avenue of memory to victims of deportation on a place of the former Muslim cemetery around road service station.

This year this question has again risen very sharply. The cemetery part now occupies road service station, and the part is in Open Company «Revers» rent where the food market functions. Rent term comes to an end this year, the enterprise repeatedly directed to the Executive Committee of the City Soviet of People’s Deputies of the request for prolongation of term of rent and change of a special-purpose designation of the rented earths, planning to erect in this territory a trading-entertaining complex. Throughout several years of Open Company «Revers» tried to «push» the question, they searched for supports at a number of Crimean Tatar organisations, including at Alushta regional Medjelis and even in Milli Medzhlis.

The blessing, there was a group of people which has opposed realisation of any activity on a place of burial places of the Crimean Tatars. In September of this year the social council which has continued work on prevention of blasphemous actions on the former Muslim cemetery around road service station has been created. The deputy of city council, the former chairman have entered into it regional меджлиса, the head of department of international relations Has died Shepherds, a member of executive committee of Alushta City Council Remzi Abdurefiev, the chairman of the council of elders Rustem Sherfedinov, the ex-chairman of Alushta regional Medjelis Seithalil Dzhaksim, the chairman of youth public organisation «Yana huvet» Enver Arpatly, the chairman of a Muslim community of «Alushta «Jusuf Ashirov, the chairman of public organisation «Chatirdag» Seitjagja Kazakov and I, the chairman of Observant committee Milli Firka.
We worked to admitting building of an entertaining complex on a holy site. When it is necessary, protesting, when it is necessary, spending explanatory work with deputies. We furnished proofs of eyewitnesses that in territory where plans to carry out the activity of Open Company «Revers», till 1944 there was a Muslim cemetery but as interested people tried to ignore this moment, we have achieved carrying out of archaeological researches. And when results of researches have confirmed that in this territory there was a Muslim cemetery, the question has been removed. Session of city council from September, 8th, 2009 has resolved project preparation for Avenue of memory to victims of deportation.

Mayor, addressing to sessions, has underlined that arrangement of Avenue of memory — business not only the Crimean Tatars, but also business of all city and all deputies, all services should promote monument arrangement.
— what difficulties do you face in the work?

— We have learnt to overcome resistance of ill-wishers from among officials and chauvinistically adjusted layers, first of all, the unity, justice of requirements and participation in business of national revival of wide layers of the people. But recently the help to ill-wishers «», in particular, Alushta regional Medjilis and even began to render Milli Medzhlis. Proofs to it much, I will result only two examples.

For building of a trading-entertaining complex one firm needed 0,6 hectares of the earth around road service station of the city of Alushta. While active workers of national movement long time interfered with decision-making on earth allocation in territory of the former Muslim cemetery for building trading-entertaining, members of executive committee regional Medjilis Remzi Voennij and Ibraim Karametov have come on session of the ground commission of the Alushta Executive Committee of the City Soviet of People’s Deputies and have declared that regional Medjilis does not object to allocation of a part of a cemetery under building and have assured the commission that protest actions from outside the Crimean Tatars will not be. With great difficulty and attraction of a considerable quantity of people it was possible to convince city council Alushta not to make such shameful decision.

Other example, many long years the authorities Alushta did not fulfil the promise on territory returning on which there is no time the mosque «Asha-Dzhami» settled down. Then our compatriots have organised picket and after a while have started building. But here Muftijat and Milli Medzhlis have interfered. For the purpose of rendering assistance in the permission of this question, they have made the agreement from April, 20th, 2007 «About settlement of the problem connected with restoration of a Muslim mosque» Asha-Dzhami «(the Bottom mosque) in Alushta». The agreement provided instead of the protest action termination to resolve Muftijat within one and a half years from 23.05.07 drawing up of the project of tap of the ground area of 0,05 hectares under building of a mosque «Asha-Dzhami». Among signed this agreement Mustafa Dzhemilev, Arsen Alchikov, the chairman regional Medjelis of Alushta Ibraim Umerov appear, etc.
The Sanhedrim of the Crimean Tatars of the city of Alushta tried to supervise performance of this agreement, but also in Muftijat, both in Milli Medzhlis, and in regional Medjilis encountered an absolute indifference. In the meantime, near to the specified territory buildings of hotels already rise, and mosque building became almost impossible.

Thus, almost solved by means of picket, the question of building of a mosque, after intervention of the higher representative body of the Crimean Tatars (and has taken place already two and a half a year) has appeared simply ruined.

As it to explain, understand let will judge everyone, but to accept such it is impossible. Means, we will struggle and with such phenomena.
