The monument «the Tatar of Speech by Pospolita», executed of bronze, is opened in the Polish city of Gdansk. The monument represents the soldier-horseman in characteristic fighting furniture of the Polish uhlan having control over shtandart of military joints with a Muslim half moon.
In celebrations on the occasion of opening of a monument which have passed last week, the president of Poland Bronislav Komorovsky, members of the Polish government, consuls general of Belarus, Russia and Ukraine, representatives of public organizations of Tatars, has taken part UNIAN informs.
Komorovsky has thanked the Polish Tatars who served Poland throughout 600 years.
«The Tatar is born on a game — acknowledgement to that is also this monument of the Polish Tatar — and all of us remember that the Polish Tatars smashed enemies of Rech Pospolita, enemies of the Crown and Lithuania, being unsurpassed equestrians. In the caused admiration, among strangers sowed improbable fear thanks to bravery, eagernesses to fight and it is masterful to the mastered military craft. The Polish Tatars have brought praise of Speech by Pospolita. Not always speech of Pospolita indulged their attention, but they always truly served it, after all all know: if the Tatar falls in love, he does it with all hot heart», — the head of the Polish state has told.
