The public organisation «the Crimean Tatars for the union with Russia» has made the statement on the occasion of a Victory Day. «On May, 9th — our common holiday. The common for all people of the former USSR battling to fascists. On May, 9th is a holiday and for the Crimean Tatars. Ten thousand representatives of our people spilt the blood on Great Patriotic War fronts.
Attempts of leaders of the organisation named «Medzhlis of the Crimean Tatar people» look especially blasphemous to belittle value of this date in the opinion of the Crimean Tatars », — the head of organisation Seit Veli Sejtmemetov, the deputy of Saki regional council writes.
«Recently one of leaders of Medzhlis, the head of Bahchisraj district state administration Ilmi Umerov has openly declared that for him May, 9th is not a holiday. The people making similar statements, differently as villains I cannot name. After all among the Crimean Tatars — 7 Heroes and one twice the Hero of Soviet Union, ten thousand awarded by awards and medals of the USSR for participation in war against fascism, including — for defence of Sevastopol. The Crimean Tatars supervised over the underground organisations in territory of Crimea, participated in guerrilla movement. Thousand persons have been shot by Hitlerites for cooperation with guerrillas, fascists have destroyed more than 100 Crimean Tatar villages», — is reminded in the document.
«The Crimean Tatars should know and remember names of the compatriots who have brought the worthy contribution to the Victory over fascism. It is possible to list them long. We are proud of names of Ametkhan Sultan, Abdureim Reshidov, Abdul Tejfuk, Sulejman Asanov, Rustem Halilov, Abdula Dagdzhi (« uncle Volodja »- the head of the underground organisation of Simferopol), Alime Abdennanova (was shot by Hitlerites in 1943), Mustafa Selimov, Dzhappar Akimov, Bekir Osmanov and tens thousand other front-line soldiers, underground workers, the guerrilla from among the Crimean Tatars. For this reason on May, 9th for us is a holiday», — the author of the statement explains.
«Yes, we have suffered, yes we have been moved from the Native land. Among active workers of Crimean Tatar national movement for returning to Crimea there were many front-line soldiers. But it does not mean that we should have harm on someone and not acknowledge the Victory of the people of Soviet Union in the Great Patriotic War.
It is assured — veterans of the Great Patriotic War from among the Crimean Tatars will necessarily take part in the celebrations devoted to the 65 anniversary of the Victory. Their sons, grandsons and great-grandsons are proud of their feat, their contribution to the Victory over fascism. I am am pleased with that fact that in village Kamenka near Simferopol, at 42nd school, there is an avenue of Heroes of Soviet Union — the Crimean Tatars. For nouveau riches from Medzhlis 9th of May- not the holiday, and for the Crimean Tatars is celebratory date », — concludes Seit Veli Sejtmemetov.
