The Turkish Singer Has Been Punished for the Insult of Inhabitants of Diyarbakir

The court has sentenced Turkish variety singer Demet Akalin to copy a hymn of the country and to write about it the five-page composition for the insult of townsmen Diyarbakir.

«Are you from Diyarbakir? Have you gone down from mountains? Sitting and stearing like boneheads , where else can you be?» — has ostensibly asked Akalin the audience which has gathered for her concert in the resort city of Bodrum.

Some businessmen from the city of Diyarbakir in the southeast of the country with mainly Kurdish population have submitted the claim on Akalin because of her statements at a concert.

The court recognised Demet Akalin guilty of infringement of the law, forbidding to offend people on the basis of regional and social distinctions.
